PWER Earnings Rpt

What is the likelihood that this gimmicky internet "Conference Call" by Power One on the day of the Earnings Report will be some sort of double-talk attempting to cover their butts if this report is less than favorable? I'm not sure how to interpret this jesture of theirs. Any ideas?

Looks like Stairclimer00 finally got his chance to demonstrate one of the three facts he knows about the market.

Some people speak pretty courageously under the cloak of anonymity. You lip-off like that in person, and "Stairclimer" will need a Stair-Lift.

From Stephens, Inc. this morning."Power-One, Inc.(PWER Buy Price $42.00; Target $103.00)We are very comfortable with our estimates for the Company's fourth quarter which will be reported before the open on January 24. For Q4, consensus is at $0.26(cash eps). We expect some upside to this number, potentially in the range of $0.02-$0.05.

The outlook for FY01 remains promising. Throughout FY00, the Company, added significant amount of manufacturing capacity, particularly for its highest-in-demand product line, dc/dc converters. We estimate thay in FY00, PWER sold approximately $170 million of dc/dc converters. Entering FY01, Pwer has the capacity to sell as much as $655 million of dc/dc converters. Demand for PWER's dc/dc converters remains very strong as evidenced by one of it's key customers (Juniper-JNPR-$128) beating estimates and raising guidance for the remainder of the year. We reiterate our buy rating".

A velcro - there you go again, spouting your opinions as if they were facts. Everything was invented by Asians? First, look at the history of Japan: they have taken technology which someone else invented and refined it. Look at Korea, China and Taiwan. The innovations developed in those countries were developed by people educated in the U.S.

Hewlett and Packard were not Asians, neither was Steve Jobs, or Richard Feynmann, or any of a number of people who have improved our world.

Try living in one of those counties you mentioned. See if such innovation as you claim flourishes and it accepted. Then speak of your opinions.

Sir...there were Universties in Japan and Europe when the American indians owned Manhattan...........???? I love this country and that's why I hate those that waste our resources( ie our children's energy trying to out do European & Oriental auto manu. ..and.all of the orient in tech areas) Let's do what Americans do best. Have you seen any foreign students educated here returning home. When I was you age ..America lead the world in medicene.......do you believe you'll ever see that again in your childrens lifetime ??

I am amazed at how many of my neighbors "think" there are engineers and scientists at Lucent doing research....that hasn't been the case for twenty five years. People believe PWER has research facilities (not true according to the co.; or can help in a power outage... They make power supplies, which is NOT high tech....

The annual report shows....the items the co impresses so many are VERY SMALL parts of it's production. The lead in cell phones NOKIA, Erickson. HWP is 75 % over ther too!!........ WE are farmers...BE PROUD of our farms !! (ALL ABOVE IS THE OPINION OF ONE OLD PROFESSOR.....JUST OPINION)

Since you are so enamored of farm work, why don't you shovel manure in your back yard instead of on the internet?

America led in technology because 100 years ago we decided we hate farming. The "universities" that existed in Japan when "Manhattan was still owned by the Indians" taught goldfish tending.Technical superiority is not endemic to any particular nation... it is possessed by those with the WILL TO SEIZE IT! Enjoy your farm.

Please ask any teacher what the nationality of the brightest students is........Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and some Indian. if you don't like that I suggest you take it up with God. Maybe "She'll " inform you personally. I've got four grandchildren to worry over. Why WALL STREET and you kids refuse to give up on tech. We now certainly deserve to sell off sharply because so much of the cash held aside went back into and ADDED to the same 'Sh--" that the pro's wanted to own last spring. Csco,Kss, Pwer,Msft and Tele, the Wag's, Hdi's are NOT good investment going into what is ahead for America period. The young 25-48 yr old investor hopefully will lose back what they invested in futuristic jokes. Co's that make products the world needs...Food,Oil, Nat. Gas, Shipping, trains, tools, homes ; and especially non -nuke electricity.

America should have just three of the numerous "deep harbors" Japan has........we could then feed the world. It will get very tough over the next two years for American investors....while Japan builds out of it's deep recession.......they went from 47000 down to 13000......hopefully our DOW will fall as much.!The three stocks that we hold that are NOW being bought up my mgm't will provide funds for more GOLD, VELCF,PQUE and STW. (ALL ABOVE IS THE OPINION...JUST OPINION OF A TIRED OF FIGHTING "wishful, young, unread; and uninformed dreamers" OLD MAN !! just opinion!!!

Granted that "Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and some Indian" students may be intelligent, but I must ask: Which culture produced the high-technology goods that we're familiar with and allowed them to be affordable for "everyman"? The U.S. mastered mass-production techniques and displayed the inventiveness that brought our present technological age into existence. The Japanese et. al, had to copy Western products and manufacture them at slave-labor prices in order to get where they are today. Just because everything today says "Made In China" on it does not mean that it was invented there. HISTORY GOES BACK A LITTLE FURTHER THAN 1950!

America has no reason to feel inferior to any other country's technological abilities. Our present lag in creativity and productivity can be blamed on our lethargic spiritual drive which derived from a self-defeating, liberal orientation in our educational systems and general culture.

think your probably right atleast short term. Even though I am digusted with myself for not covering when I was way ahead, blowing thousands in profits by holding on way too long. I am more depressed for having introduced PWER to several close friends of mine who even though I made it clear that I'm not responsibile for their decision to invest in PWER well after I was ahead on it.

I feel as though they feel as though I lead them astray. I should have kept my mouth shut and never let them know about PWER no matter how well I was doing, besides they probably would not have let me know period. I was also let down when the freinds who I enlightened told me that quite honestly and selfishly [?] they would like to see PWER come down considerably around the time it peaked so they could get in on it at a more reasonable price.

If nothing else I've learned two lessons of wisdom, no matter how much you want to help some one else out, DONT because #1 they probably wont appreciate it, if anything they will resent you for not telling them sooner, and #2 when your comfortably ahead, sell and guarantee yourself a profit. Any opinions or information that I share with anyone will be as always in good faith, but only anonomysly on message boards.

Right, "Velcrokid". Let's have a good old fashioned depression so old jackasses like you who have already made your money can gloat while the rest of America is unemployed and picking through rags like the Third-World people you seem to admire so greatly.

Some of us have to make money. Your gas-headed ramblings about the glories of failure and poverty, apart from being obviously insane, do nothing but rub salt into a wound that the rest of us are trying to heal.

Screw off.

Hoping they don't survive along with T, LU,SBUX,and that this BEAR really tears up

...Stocks cannot sell at 20 X earns for any reason ,at any time ,under any growth pattern....... the Future fot this nation and the World is Down !! ..NOT up....... as I work everyday teaching others and trying to protect my four grandchildren....... It's not a mystery, people. I tell ya, I've had a great laugh reading all your theories on why PWER's up, and better yet, why it'll go down. PWER is being added to the S&P 500, and THAT'S why it's up. No technical breakout, no renewed investor confidence, just the freakin' S&P 500. The question is, where will it find a new base? Look for this one to settle in around 23-25, right where it is now. It'll still be right here, until September or so when profits actually begin to move in the right direction.

You're about 6 months late: Added to S&P 500 Index October 12, 2000. There's one simple reason why PWER's up: investors are idiots. That's the reason behind everything on Wall St. Toss a coin and don't waste time looking for logic behind any of this BS
