WHAT COULD REPLACE THE UNITED NATIONS?

Hank McIntyre

The U.N. is the last, best hope for peace on this earth. So I'm told. But my somewhat cursory awareness of human history leads me to recognize that much of the U.N.'s approach to world peace runs cross-grain with human psychology. Much like the failure of communism, there is no personal incentive left in life when the people are forced to be "equal" by a ruling tyranny. Sure, "tyranny." We're talking about a single power ruling the globe. Absolute power corrupts even the best-intentioned of people - that's just the natural shape of human thought. One day one of the U.N.'s administrators will be confronted by a situation: 3 million anti-U.N. citizens will (in the U.N.'s eyes) disrupt the peace of the world by churning-up discord. Maybe cause a war. Therefore, KILLING 3 million anti-U.N. citizens will produce PEACE. Purely hypothetical, of course, but as power accumulates to one body over time, people just start to think this way.

SOVEREIGNTY. People need to feel they're in control of their lives and property in order to be healthy, vital, motivated and productive. Take that away from us and you break our spirits. A few rambunctious souls will fight at any cost to avoid such a violation of nature, such drudgery. The mind is not equipped to handle enslavement. WE MUST HAVE SOVEREIGNTY: Even if it's just over our own little acre. Absolute power by a government won't allow for this kind of personal sovereignty. So the U.N. is OUT.

Despite the pleasant words about "peace", they're just a tyrant waiting to hatch. We must perform a "U.N.-ectomy" upon the world and excise it before it mutates any further.

THE ALTERNATIVE. There is a spiritual law established by God that causes all activities of man to HARMONIZE - IF ALL PEOPLE ARE ONE WITH GOD'S SPIRIT. An abandonment of ego, craving, impulse passions - all of these lead to DISCORD, which in turn leads to people searching for someone to lead them: a "king" who will make the emotionally-driven people feel that their fears will be obliterated by a benevolent government. All of these emotional fears and cravings melt away when one is immersed in God. Not subservience to preachers, priests, "prophets" or other self-proclaimed intermediaries for God. This can only work if it's between the individual and God. All the world's troubles (political ones, anyway) began when the people clamored for a king.

Judges 21:25 - In those days [there was] no king in Israel: every man did [that which was] right in his own eyes.

1 Samuel 8:5 and they said to him, "Behold, you have grown old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint a king for us to judge us like all the nations.

1 Samuel 8:18 "Then you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the LORD will not answer you in that day."

1 Samuel 8:19 Nevertheless, the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel, and they said, "No, but there shall be a king over us,

1 Samuel 8:20 that we also may be like all the nations, that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles."

God only intended for his people to follow him.

THIS IDEA is the foundation of what will replace the U.N. It WILL require personal responsibility, self-control and discipline. But that's preferable to being under near-enslavement to a world-wide body of military dictators.

PEACE, PEACE, THEY PROCLAIM...

Daniel 8:25 - and he shall magnify [himself] in his heart, and BY PEACE DESTROY MANY: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without human power.

1 Thessalonians 5:3 - For when they shall say, PEACE AND SAFETY; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
THIS IS THAT! The U.N. constantly proclaims "peace", while simultaneously the U.N. constantly labors to build up its military arsenal. This was its plan since the very first meeting: ["The United Nations should have an armada of national air force contingents immediately available to send against an aggressor" - Dumbarton Oaks First Conference on the Establishment of a United Nations, quoted from Time magazine, October 16, 1944.] From the very beginning the U.N. was designed as a military power. It is a war machine that can take the world's armies under its authority and send them to any country that wishes to remain independent of the U.N. The U.N. will claim that that country is "terrorizing", or otherwise harming people, and thereby gain the sympathy and support of the world's unanalytical, unthinking masses who believe that reading Newsweek magazine makes you "educated". At that point, resistance is non-existent.

WE CAN SEE IT. The question now is: Will we DO something about it?

  • Resist every action of the U.N.

  • Protest to your congresssmen and senator, pressing them to ceaase all payments to this foreign organizaton occupying U.S. land. (I know it's a "joke" to write congress, but if EVERYBODY does it EVERY DAY, it will at least shine the light of public attention onto this "hidden" buildup of the U.N.'s power by our own government).

  • Observe and PROMOTE personal interaction with God. This will strengthen us to resist fear, and therefore not give-in to the "solution" of martial law in the guise of the "peacekeeper" U.N. when the pressure's on. AND it will strengthen OTHERS to know God through Jesus, and thereby be able to STAND STRONG in the day of fear and chaos.

There is more to be said of course. There's ALWAYS more. But for now, this is enough to redirect our thinking away from a man-made body, corruptible and ultimately deadly, and toward a God-breathed spiritual law as a solution to our world's political challenges and threats. Getting to know that law is a life-long maturation process, but its benefits begin immediately and increase day-by-day.

This might distress some people. "How will this stop war? Or hunger, crime, etc.?" Ultimately the answer is: FREEDOM IS MORE DESIRABLE THAN SAFETY. The human mind grows restless, depressed and despondant when deprived of liberty. Whatever skirmishes and disputes may arise from an absence of a global government, it will be far less destructive than having millions killed in order to have the world march in lockstep to the U.N.'s drumbeat.

FREEDOM IS WORTH THE RISK!
